Before You Shoot
Tips for a Winning Photo
A great craft deserves a great photo. These simple tips take seconds to apply and make all the difference.
Use Natural Light
Set your project near a window and shoot in daylight. Avoid direct harsh sunlight — soft, diffused light brings out the best texture and colour in your work.
Clean Background
A plain white sheet, a piece of linen fabric, or a clean wooden surface works beautifully. Remove any clutter or distractions from around your piece.
Fill the Frame
Get close enough that your project fills most of the shot. Capture the textures, details, and colours that make your piece truly yours.
Show the Finish
Chalk painted furniture? Show the whole piece from a slight angle. A small carving or resin pour? A tight close-up on the detail is stunning. Let the work speak.

How to post a winner
Open the Entities panel in the left sidebar of your editor, select Contest Winner, and add a new record. Fill in the winner's name, the month (e.g. "July 2026"), a craft description, the image URL of their photo, and a personal congratulations message. It will appear in the gallery above instantly — no code needed!
